This problem has been reported with different ETA-based movements, so I don't think either model is more of a risk than the other. Besides, you do get a 3-year factory warranty on co-axial models, and I personally haven't heard of this problem showing up after the warranty has expired. In my case, it happened practically from day one.

If you are looking for a classy dress watch that's a better value, I'd have a look at the Aqua Terra line. You can't get the power reserve or GMT features, but they do have the exact same base co-axial movements and are a much better bargain than the DeVilles. MSRP on a bracelet ranges from $2800 to $2880, depending on the size you get. You also get much better water resistance from the Aqua Terras (150 meters).
