Hi Anders, Hi Guys.

This was/is a limited edition made for the japanese market in 2004. It was limited to 2004 pieces.

BEFORE the japanese ltd ed, Omega always denied that they ever made a model like this. ( red /orange chequered dial, Speedmaster Pro case ) However various books, contain pictures of a speedmaster pro, with a red/orange chequered dial ( WITHOUT the MARK II markings ! ). These books were all printed LONG before 2004.

So there is some question as to where these models came from.

What is 100% clear is that the Japanese Ltd Ed model is a copy ( or hommage if you like ) to the Omega that Omega say they never made :-)

I personally like it. I know at least 2 serious Omega collectors who have "made their own" using MK II dials, so I believe some other people like it to.

Finally, here is the REAL MK II, with the same dial ( except the text MARK II ) from the early 70's.

S.
