That sounds right. I am NOT an expert on vintage watches, but your description of the mark and where it is located is consistent with current hesalite (acrylic plastic) crystals. The mark should be in the center of the crystal and it is molded into the crystal (giving that "small blob of glue" effect). It is not engraved into the crystal.

Maybe a vintage expert will chime in here, but nothing you are saying sounds "wrong" to me.
