I'm sorry to read this. I know how much you have looked forward to getting "your" watch.

I'd try the local watchmaker. Ask him if he can "tweak" it enough to get another 1.5 minutes per day.

If he can & does, I'd "keep an eye" on the watch, wear it for a while & if it runs consistantly, I'd leave it at that.

If it is not possible or if the wtachmaker does it & a few weeks later it starts running slow (Or fast ) again, I'd have it serviced.

Looking at it on positive side, If you decide to get it serviced, you will know exactly who did the work & when.

I agree with John, a dealer who hasn't seen the watch & may not be a watchmaker, is not in a position to make a statement like they did.

I would not get the watch serviced just because the dealer said so.
