Re: 45mm Planet Ocean on Sale at AD .....

: Local UK AD is having a sale and has the orange
: 45mm PO at a very good discount. So I go in
: to try it on... MAN THAT'S A BIG WATCH. I
: have big hands (ask the wife) but that thing
: is HUUUUUUGE! I like a big watch, but did I
: mention ITS ENORMOUS. So, anyone have the
: 45mm and liking it? Do you have it as an
: everyday wearer or do you only use it to
: give your arm a workout? Funnily enough, the
: 42mm isn't discounted ...... are they
: finding the 45mm hard to sell?

I'm very surprised that your dealer would put only one size PO on sale. While the smaller 42mm size fits more wrists than its bigger brother, Omega seems to be heading in the direction of creating larger watches. For instance, the new PO chronographs only come in the larger 45.5mm size, which means people like me can't wear one.

Like you, I do find the 45.5mm model HUGE, but that's because I'm only 5'9" with 6.75" wrists. Larger guys who can pull off the "Panerai look" undoubtedly prefer the larger size of the 45.5mm model.

Anyway, the PO has been a huge seller for Omega so I don't think the 45.5mm model will be discontinued anytime soon.
