Hi all,
As some of you have been aware, I have had some major issues with Omega and in particular, my Speedy Day-Date (detailed in a previous thread, "flaw in radial graining effect").
Now, to cut a long story short, I had the unit replaced by Omega SA, and recieved the unit some weeks ago. I was elated and to find that my request had been met (eventually), and a fully carded and warrantied watch was returned. What horrified me was the 3 flecks of dark carbon-esque material that was on the undersurface of the crystal....just the exact problem that existed in the first place all those months ago!
I e-mailed the service center in Eastleigh, which I confess THIS had nothing to do with them, to which I received NO reply. I then a few weeks ago wrote to the head office in Switzerland. I received my reply a few days ago from Bruno Jacober and Patrick Strasser (VP procurement & customer service and International customer care manager respecively). They have (predictably) referred the case to those clowns at Eastleigh, namely a Mr F Nardin (Omega Brand Manager).
Today I recieved an e-mail from the very defensive customer care officer I encountered the first time round to request a convenient pick-up address in an attempt to solve the matter (which I hope will be once and for all).
To those of you who followed my first saga and who partook in contributing to the thread, a question: what should I do should they offer to polish the crystal and "warranty repair" the watch, given the hash of it they made the first time? Should I demand a Swiss repair, indeed a replacement? I so desperately wish I could post a detatiled photo of this on this message, but my 3MP cam-phone (Nokia N80) can't handle it.
Also, a message to those who thought that all Omegas from Switzerland/bought in Switzerland were flawless: this has been shipped from the factory direct. It has a flaw. Explain that?!
I am further deluded in Omega as a brand and am becoming more and more convinced I should have bought a Rolex.
Thanks in advance for your helpful and knowledgeable input.
