: Hi Nafees,
: I'm glad things are getting better. So now you
: have a brand new watch with guarantee from
: Omega CH.
: Unfortunately there are 3 marks on the
: underside of the crystal.
: I'd agree with the Swiss guys, it makes no
: sense to send the watch back to Switzerland,
: this will just invoke unneccessary costs
: & delays.
: Omega has a UK service center in Eastleigh.
: And, to be honest, if they didn't refer you
: there, why do they have it ?
Omega SA have referred the case to Eastleigh as their "Affiliate, The Swatch Group (UK) Ltd."
: I wouldn't think they will try to polish the
: marks out. They'll either pop the movement
: out & wipe the marks off the inside or
: at the worst case, put a new crystal on the
: watch. The cost price of a new crystal for
: Omega is peanuts.
: I'd be happy with both solutions. I'm sure you
: can put a brief but friendly letter in with
: the watch when you send it in, explaining
: what happened last time. They'll then know
: to take extra special care of your speedy.
I enclosed a very polite letter with the first watch when all of this started in June, indeed every time I sent the unit back. It was returned, granted with a clean crystal, but there were scratches on the case work, there was dust on the face of the watch and the case back was on upside down....all this in spite of my asking them to be careful with my first "expensive" watch!
: If you bought your watch locally, maybe you
: could take it back to your AD & ask him
: to write a letter describing the state of
: the watch, so ( heaven forbid ) it should
: come back with a scratch or whatever, your
: AD's letter will prove it didn't have one
: when he inspected it.
Unfortunately I'm in Eaglescliffe (50 miles south of Newcastle)and the AD is in London. With my shifts on Intensive Care it is near nigh impossible to get there without planning well in advance.
: I don't quite follow your comments about buying
: a watch from Switzerland. the UK , USA,
: German, etc etc Omegas ALL leave the Swiss
: factory & ALL pass throught the same
: quality checks. I don't think that the 100%
: perfect watches stay in Switzerkans, the 99%
: perfect got to land A, the 98% to land B. It
: doesn't make any difference where you buy
: your Omega from.
Granted and understood. I'm sure I read a thread some time back where someone (based in Switzerland) advocated that their timepieces were flawless and did not cause problems, and that the reason was that they were in Switzerland. If I have got the wrong end of the stick then I retract and apologise.
: It seesm to me that Omega have reacted to your
: problem. They have provided a brand new
: watch. So why not treat this as a new
: problem instead of an extension of the old
: problem.
I am. I find it just typical however that the replacement has exactly the same flaw the original unit had. I'm sure I'm not the only one to have bought a unit to find that there is something cosmetically wrong with it. QC issue perhaps?
: I hope it works out this time & you get the
: chance to enjoy your watch as the rest of us
: here enjoy ours.
As do I.
: All the Best
: Steve
Many thanks for your valuable input, Steve. Taken on board and appreciated. I'll keep you all updated on what happens.
