: Is their advice correct? Does demagnetising
: involve taking apart the watch? How good is
: Omega UK?
I believe that your Omega does have an anti magnetic iron plate on the back that prevents the watch from being magnetized. I believe that by opening the back and taking this plate out would allow the watch to be more easily demagnetized, but it isn't quite 'necessary' (but I never serviced a watch before, so I'm probably not the most creditable person on this situation). On our previous posts, Sean and I were just informing you of the possibly that this may be the problem and suggested that you try demagnetization because it is an EXTREMELY cheap and easy fix compared to a complete overall (the latter of which WILL fix the problem, but is time consuming and expensive).
Do you have a compass handy? If you do, place it next to your watch and rotate it around it. If the needle strays away from North, then the watch is magnetized, if not, then you probably need an overhaul.
: Sorry for all the questions.
No problem, there can never be too many questions about Omegas!
