Re: Speedmaster 3520.50 question re: rotor UN-wind

: I'm feeling a little, ok more than a little
: worried at the moment regarding my recently
: purchased used Speedmaster day-date
: automatic 3520.50 from a private seller.

: After winding the watch manually, and holding
: the watch still, horizontally and face up, I
: can cause the rotor to spin up and quickly
: do around 10 revolutions (you can hear it
: and feel it) just by tapping lightly on the
: watch case. Is this the normal nature of the
: automatic movement inside?

: Thanks.

Yes!

You have just experienced the 7750 wrist wobble or massage. The day-date is a relatively highly modified ETA/Valjoux 7750.

This movement winds in one direction and free wheels in the other. The spinning you feel is a characteristic of the movement.

It's a good sign that the winding mechanism is well lubricated and clean, and spins easily.

Enjoy it!

Sam
