: I found the serial number on the 7 o'clock lug exactly as you
: described, and I could read it with a magnifying glass. When I
: saw it I wondered how I had missed finding it. And of course I
: was very happy to see it still intact.
: The back of the case is a clear crystal window in a steel ring. The
: ring has five indentations so it can be unscrewed using a
: special tool, and the only engraving I can find on the ring is
: "CO-AXIAL ESCAPEMENT"
: The watch is absolutely beautiful inside and out. I didn't know
: about the transparent back until it arrived. It's fascinating to
: see it in motion, truly a masterpiece. I love it.
: Thanks again for your help.
: Best regards,
: Grandtiger
Exhibition backs are wonderful things. My Deville lacks that feature, but has other qualities.
The very first co-axial watches were numbered, limited editions. I have a stainless steel Deville from the early 2000s which was part of the first regular production collection which followed the limited editions, although it is from a few years later. My watch has an interesting solid caseback and bracelet that is an homage to the bracelets on the 1950s Constellation Grand Luxe watches.
I had a chance to better compare the two bracelets on another occasion.
