: I was running through the ChronoTrader yesterday and noticed two
: "Maddox Grail" watches, the 376.0822 or the
: Speedmaster Day/Date for sale.
: I have no idea what the odds are to have two of these beautiful
: watches listed for sale on the same day, side by side, but the
: odds
: have to be astronomical. They come up for sale occasionally,
: actually rarely, these are nice watches from overseas and look
: to be
: in good condition. For the sake of discussion, whats everyones take
: on this?
: I own one of the "Grails" and its my second favorite
: watch of all times and I wear it most every day. If the owners
: felt the same way
: I do about their 376.0822, this must be a difficult decision. What
: say you guys? Have the economics of watch collecting been
: a victim of our trying times?

Beautiful watch there Jim. Yes, I believe that luxury goods are taking a beating right now, right along with our retirement plans. We have lost about 40% of our retirement nest egg since December. I cant help but think many are in this same boat. All of a sudden a watch becomes the next house payment. Other factors as well, take for instance a sudden disappearance of Speedies from ebay. Our friends in Japan can't make any money on them now due to the Dollar/yen disparity. Its affecting everyone, and luxury goods are sure to suffer in a big way. I hope this doesn't have a disastrous effect on the swiss watch market, although it may help to keep prices down in the short term.
