Re: The necessity (or not) of servicing

: There's now 4 years since I had my watch serviced - a "full
: overhaul" to get it as near as possible to "new"
: condition. At that time it had not been serviced for a decade,
: and was running about 10-15 seconds slow. After that, it took a
: year or so to get it to run acceptably: less than 10 seconds off
: (it was 20+ seconds off). The solution was to get a specialist
: at the local Swatch have a go at it (and that took some weeks,
: IIRC).
: It is a Constellation - I believe "1960s calibre 564 'C' shape
: case" - bought new in 1969. Recently is has been running
: very well - average for ca. 80 days has been about 1 second fast
: (slightly better, in fact).
: I'm wondering if I let a dealer service it once more I will have to
: go through another year with a number of adjustments.

It's a bit early to get it serviced, in my humble opinion. With modern lubricants, 5 years if the watch is keeping good time is the earliest I would it serviced.

: Should I have it serviced? What's the risk that it will be
: "way off" afterwards?
