Re: Omega PA service ....
In Response To: Omega PA service .... ()

From what I've read for the past year on this as well as other Omega forums, I'm afraid that rick's experiences are much more the norm than Dan's. I see reports over and over again about watches being sent back 2-3 times before they're corrected.

And to be honest, I personally haven't had much luck with sending a watch back to Switzerland to the factory for repairs. My first Omega, a Bond SMP automatic, suddenly started running 45 sec/day fast after 13 months (yes, one month out of warranty). My jeweler sent it back to the factory, and I recieved it back 12 weeks later, along with a bill for $185. On taking it home and checking it
out, I was stunned to find it still running 45 sec/fay fast! Back to the factory it went, to be returned in another 12 weeks with the problem still unfixed! My jeweler was so mortified (won't mention the name, but they are considered to be one of the premier companies in the South, having been around for 140 years) that he offered to take the watch in trade, allowing me the full amount I had paid for the SMP. I traded "up" to a Rolex Sub, but never really liked the feel of the watch (the bracelet is like something out of a Cracker Jack box, compared to the Omega basketweave bracelet). Then I found out (thru this forum) that the Bond SMP came in a quartz version, and was tickled to death to trade "up" once again to this watch (and used the cash I received to pay for a semmester of college). Service on the quartz , which is basically battery changing and testing for pressure integrity. can be done by any competent watchmaker.
