I read that one of the astronauts had the same thing happen during a mission -must be a design flaw.
Seriously now- if it were my dads watch I would send it to switzerland. It will come back with new hands and dial but yours sound shot anyway. 55o.00 should be in the ballpark, Nothing against the guys in Secaucus mind you, but hopefully you will pass this down to another generation someday and I'd feel more comfortable with the Omega Restoration Specialists than the Swatch Group US service guys.
