Re: America's Cup Racing, and info on this watch

The number of people who will actually use this watch for its intended purpose is so incredibly limited that it sort of sticks out like a sore thumb for what it is: Another Omega marketing tie-in scheme. You could do the exact same thing in a match race with any SeMP chrono, and the added complication of the five blue/red dots is really a very limited addition to its functionality.

It IS a pretty cool looking watch, however, and the idea of balls to the wall sailing and an Omega Seamaster are certainly compatible.

That being said, I wouldn't trade my 2293.50 with a date on it for 5 colored dots and no date. In addition, the sailing I do is deep water offshore cruising, and wearing a watch like that would feel like wearing expensive leather driving gloves while driving my pickup truck - kind of phony and off-key.

In your search for another SeMP, you might want to seriously consider a 2293.50. It's Ti so it's 25% lighter, and the bezel is solid Ti with the numbers deeply engraved into the metal, so the markings can't be scratched off.
