Bond SMP Vs. Bond GMT...

: I'm looking for an AD referral fro Wash DC. I'm
: also trying to decide between the classic
: Bond SMP and the new Bond GMT co-ax SMP...I
: absolutely love the display back and the
: applied markings but the $900 price
: difference is pretty hard to swallow...Will
: the the upcoming co-ax non-GMT SMP have a
: display back as well?

That's the question we all want answered. So far it appears that it will not, since the limited edition Bond co-axial Seamaster comes with a standard caseback. However, we have yet to receive any official confirmation one way or the other.

By the way, the current Bond SMP actually retails for $1250 less than the co-axial Bond GMT ($2150 for the SMP and $3400 for the GMT). The co-axial Bond SMP is expected to retail for "in the $3000 range", but no one has confirmed the exact price yet.

This is just personal opinion, but if I had to choose between the current Bond SMP or the co-axial GMT, I'd buy the GMT. I bought my Bond SMP a few years before the GMT came out, so I could never justify spending so much money on another watch that looks so similar to the one I already own. However, if I had it to do all over again, I'd gladly spend the extra money for:
the applied dial markers
co-axial escapement
GMT function
sapphire display caseback

I think all of those nice "extras" are worth the additional cost. Just my opinion, though.
