It would depend on the chemical composition. You don't want to use anything that contains strong detergents. Also, I don't like the idea of letting my watch "soak" in anything, since this just gives the solution time to potentially eat away at the painted bezel. I use a toothbrush and ordinary hand soap and it works like a charm. I just scrub, rinse, and dry, so there's no worry about any damage caused from immersion in something that's not good for the bezel.
