My Thoughts..
In Response To: seamaster ()

: looking at buying a seamaster pro
: looking for advice/sources of info
: quartz vs auto?
: any usefl info greatly appreciated

The Seamaster Professional automatics retail for $2150, while the quartz versions retail for $1700. Basically, the automatics are for people who want to own a real mechanical Swiss timepiece rather than something that runs on a battery. A quartz watch will keep better time, cost less to service, and be more rugged if you plan to do a lot of vigorous outdoor activities. It also costs less to service, since simple battery changes and occasional water-tightness tests with gasket replacements are all that's required for the quartz version.

It all comes down to you and your lifestyle. If you really want to own a true mechanical Swiss timepiece, then go with the auto. If you just want something that looks nice and is cheap to maintain, then go with the quartz.

I have sent you a referral to an authorized Omega dealer who will give you a great price on either watch if you decide to buy.

Good Luck,
John
