Re: Helium Release Valve
In Response To: Re: Helium Release Valve ()

Thanks Richard,

I will have my local certified tech. look at my watch on Monday...he is out of town until then. You are probably right, and for the HRV to have come loose in the first place, is probably indicative of a bad seal/gasket. The watch is only two years old however - who would have thought?

The part that seems strange is, why would the moisture clear up over several hours of leaving the valve open, only to reappear "smokey" almost instantly when I close the valve again? You would think any moisture would have evaporated or worked itself out of the watch by then. Why would closing the valve again cause instant fogging?

I very rarely swim with this watch, but it being a Seamaster, you would think that a reasonable thing to do, no?

What is worst case scenario? Have I done major damage to the watch or is this type of occurrence pretty common, with the watch being able to make a "full recovery"?
