Do it as rarely as you can tolerate it,

-OR-

Be prepared to buy more bracelets/clasps because if you buff it often, the clasp will eventually loose its crisp lettering and general shape. If you continue to do this once per month, you will be unhappy with the look of the bracelet MORE due to overbuffing than the minor scratches.

I suggest the abrasive rubber block from ofrei.com because it is less agresssive than scotch-brite and mimics the original finish better.

JMO (just my opinion)
