Re: For what it's worth...
In Response To: keep chronograph running? ()

My dad wore a speedmaster pro for 20 years daily, and always let his long second hand run. It always drove me crazy for some reason. I have a seamaster chronograph and my long second hand stays parked where (it seems to me) it belongs, but that's my hang up.
Anyway, he never had any obvious problems with his. It still runs well and gets regular servicing, although he doesn't wear it everyday anymore. Hardly a watchmaker's opinion, but I couldn't help chiming in, since you and my dad think alike!!

Cheers!

: I just purchased my first omega. It is a
: chronograph. My question is, it looks much
: nicer with the sweeping second hand running,
: but the chronograph has to run as well. Is
: this bad for the watch ie excess wear? the
: jewler told me that it would run down the
: power reserve faster and that is is harder
: on the watch. Does anyone know? thanks
