Nothing At All To Worry About....
: This Monday I finally received my black SMP
: (2254.50) which was purchased abroad by a
: friend (1230 USD). The watch is beautiful
: (but it slows 3 secs per day) and the papers
: are OK except that the dealer forgot to
: write the date on the warranty card. Is it
: safe to write the purchase date by Yourself
: or should it be a real stamp by the dealer?
: What is common on the cards?
It is very common for Omega dealers to leave the date blank on the warranty card in case the watch is defective and needs to be exchanged shortly after purchase. If the date field is blank, the dealer can simply send the watch back to Omega as defective and get a full refund. This allows the dealer to simply give you a replacement. If the card is dated, the dealer can't send it back to Omega, so you are forced to be without a watch while it is sent back to Omega for warranty repairs.
The dealer would write the date in with a pen anyway, so you certainly don't need any offical date stamp. You can fill it in yourself after a few weeks have gone by and you're confident that the watch is working properly.
