Re: Has anyone else been "sucked in"...

I will probably go see the new movie at some point, but frankly I am not at all impressed by the tie-in between the Bond films and Omega. It offends me that Omega thinks I am going to buy a $2k+ watch because they name it after a fictional character and pay some movie studio to have an actor wear it. It cheapens the brand image - you don't see Rolex,Panieri, etc. naming watches for movie characters. That's more of a mass-market approach I would associate with Timex and Seiko and other "cheap" watch brands.

Omega should spend their budget on designing better watches. I find the design of current line to be sub-par(just MHO of course).

: Hi Guys,

: Has anyone else been "sucked in" by
: the Bond hype ?

: I HAVE !

: I haven't paid to watch a Bond film for many a
: year now. ( The last one I paid for was the
: Connery "Come Back" film - Never
: say never again...).

: After that I decided to spend my money on other
: more worthwhile things/fun.

: However I like the idea of the "new"
: Bond being a bit more rough & ready than
: the older Bonds.

: I like the fact that his boss doesn't actually
: like him or think he's capable of the job.

: I always find heros more interesting &
: believable ( because Bond is a very life
: like & believable concept ;-) ) when
: they are not perfect.

: I'll probably go & see the new Bond film. I
: say probably because, where I live it's not
: likely to be in a Cinema from day 1, so I'll
: be able to sea/hear/read a few reviews of
: the film... that may change my mind.

: How about you guys ? are you going ?

: S.
