Re: Screw-down crown
In Response To: Screw-down crown ()

: I've just taken delivery of my first Omega, a
: brand new Seamaster 300M Auto Chrono,
: 2551.80. Well happy with it, but did anyone
: else find the user instructions a bit
: lacking in places?

I find the whole manual to be lacking. I think it's actually pathetic for a Swiss watch company to give you such a pathetic manual with a four-figure watch. The user's guide on this website is FAR more helpful and easier to follow than Omega's instruction manual.

: Particularly, I had *real* trouble getting the
: crown out to adjust the data & time. I
: was taking my Swiss Army knife to it (VERY
: carefully!) until I realised that it
: actually screws out slightly before it can
: be pulled out for adjusting.

EEEk...I hope you didn't end up scratching up your new watch in the process!!!

: Once I read back through the docs carefully, I
: found the screw-down crown pictogram on one
: of my cards, and the associated details in a
: small paragraph within the manual. It was
: not at all clear that this was how I made
: adjustments.

: I know I'm a bloke and "never read the
: manual", but this seemed to be taking
: things a bit far.

Any person on this forum could write a better manual than the one that comes with Omega watches, so you aren't alone in your criticism of it.
