Hi Wesley, Hi guys,
I've tried to post Wesleys pics here, but I don't think you can.
So here is a link to Wesley's Album again
Initially I though it was a fake. but, after some serious thought, I can now say with 100% certainty..... I'm not sure.
"Features" that point towards it being a fake are :-
- The movement has no Omega markings on it anywhere. Neither Name, movement type or serial number.
- The Omega symbol on the clasp looks too "clumsy"
"Features" that point towards it NOT being a fake are :-
- On the movement , just above the 2 silver gears, there is a blank "circle". Some 70's movements ( 1010's etc ) had a sticker with the movement number etc in there.
here's an example from the Ranfft website ( click on the pic to see the website )
- If it is a fake, why bother marking the inside of the rear cover ?
Wesley, If I were you, I'd take it to a trusted jeweller & ask him to test in the case is indeed 14 ct Gold as marked. If it is, I'd be 99% sure that you have a genuine Omega.
OBVIOUSLY If you know that your grandfather would NEVER have owned a fake, everything that I've written above can be ignored.
I'd guess the watch is from the early 70's - 80's ( would this fit in with when your grandfather bought it ? )
I have a number of Omega Catalogues, I'll check through them, maybe I can find a picture of your watch. I'd suggest looking through the online scans that I have, but I rarely scan & post the gold watches, so I'm pretty sure there will be nothing useful on my website.
I'll see if I can find a match.
All the Best
Steve
