guys- cheers for that. by way of update - i emailed the seller and he was amazed as he hadn't even noticed it! he admitted that it was missing and that with a magnifying glass he is able to tell that there is a very slight mark where the "o" should be so it must have come off at some stage. therefore, genuine watch, but slightly quirky dial. seller was honest and reasonable about the whole thing and has given me the option of not going ahead with the purchase if i want to. paddy
