There are experts on this forum who seem to have lots of the numbers of Omega cases, but I am ignorant of such things.

I suspect that what may have happened, if your watchmaker's information is right, is that you have a screw back which is from another watch and which happens also to fit your square-ish case. As the number is on the inside of the back, that is why it seems to be wrong.
