Re: Problem with Speedmaster Date...

: I bought the 3513.30 back in August, and I'm
: certainly no watch expert, but I have
: noticed the same thing. I noticed a very
: small amount of play when setting the time -
: the crown will rotate ever-so-slightly
: clockwise and counter-clockwise before
: actually moving the minute hand (maybe this
: is only perceptable?). Try moving the crown
: one direction (CW or CCW) to set the minute
: hand and push in the crown. If the minute
: hand still pauses, try the other direction.
: I can't remember which worked for me and I'm
: testing the accuracy at the moment, so I
: don't want to change it.

: Not the most intelligent answer, I know, but
: it's all I can offer. Hopefully someone more
: qualified will give you a more knowledgeable
: answer.

: BTW - I hope you enjoy your watch as much as I
: enjoy mine!

Thanks for the advice Ken. Just tried re-setting the time by adjusting the minute hand anti-clockwise (crown turned clockwise, if I recall correctly), and so far so good (though it has only been a few minutes); the minute hand did not pause.

I should clarify, though I don't know whether this made a difference, that when I set the time correctly I turned the crown in one direction only (in other words I set the time fast first, restarted the second hand, then stopped again and turned the time back).

Still curious as to the whys and wherefores, but the important thing is that it seems to be working fine now.

Thanks again,
Peter
