Omega Ignorant in NYC. Please Help.

My husband has been an admirer of the Omega look for many years but is a student and is therefore still wearing a $60 Swatch. He will be graduating soon and I'd like to buy him an Omega as a gift, but I'm a little clueless on where to begin. I've tried to do some research but I'm feeling overwhelmed.

I've been looking at the Speedmaster line as I'd like to stay at the low end of the 2-3K price range and I know he prefers a watch with chronograph, but I'm uncertain where to go from there and how to find the best deal.

I know he is not thrilled with how large todays watches have gotten in general so I'd also consider a vintage Omega if I could find the right source.

I'm in New York City so any advice on an AD and/or a specific knowledgable staff member at an AD would be a huge help.

Am I right to think that Speedmaster is the only line within my budget with chronograph?

Any specific advice on which Speedmaster to look at or does that just come down to personal preference and features?

Thank you so much in advance for your help.
