ired of buffing out my smp clasp

I have an older steel SMP and I'm tired of buffing out the scratches in the clasp. I use a bergeon fine finish bar and it comes out looking amazing every time but it's discouraging whenever i put it on, walk three paces and it's scratched already. I've heard of people putting lcd screen protectors on theirs but i was wondering if there wasn't some sort of coating available to make it more scratch resistant. what about clear nail polish? would acetone react with the metal when i tried to remove it? thanks J
