The safest way is to take it to a watchmaker, but a good pocketknife should open the snap on back.

T=If yo look closely, there will be evidence of having been opened, and perhaps a small slot in which to place the blade.

Insert the blade in the slot, press relatively hard. It will pop off, or if need be, twist slightly.
