Re: 2254 running slow???
In Response To: 2254 running slow??? ()

Well, first off, congratulations on the watch. Its a fine piece. The watch is running just outside COSC(Chronometer) specs. The specs are +6/-4 seconds a day. Some watches react to a "settling in" period, others don't. When I purchased my 2254 a few years ago, it was -4 right out of the box and eventually ended up at about -6/7. Some have experienced gains, so who knows what will happen with it.

You might try resting it in different positions overnight(face up, 3oclock up, 6oclock up, face down, etc). You would be suprised what kind of difference this makes. Face up is probably going to speed the watch up, but try several positions to see which one gives you the best performance. You might also try ordering the Cosc certificate from Omega. It will give you the different timing of the positions the watch was tested in. You can do this by emailing the aftersales email address on the omega website. You will need to send them a photocopy of your warranty card and cosc card. Ask for the COSC certificate for the watch.

Ok, now to answer the real question. At -5 secs a day, it is outside of cosc specs, however, its barely out of specs and its really too close to get it regulated under warranty. Give it a couple more months and try the different overnight positions. If its still outside specs, I might take it back to the dealer and see what they recommend. They may have a local person qualified by Omega to do simple regulations. BTW on mine, I decided not to have it regulated. Ill just roll with it and get it corrected at its first service.

Good luck with it and enjoy it. Its a great watch.
