Very sad and heavy news for our community

I add my own sincerest condolences to his family, friends, mates and everybody else who is going to miss Chuck. Most of us will and I am sure most of us feel we have lost a friend.

It was terrible and shockingly indeed to get such news. Although I, like most of the others, did not ever meet Chuck, after all these years of reading his postings he was a kind of a 'chronograph godparent' for me, and even more than that, always ready and helpful with that much sought piece of advice.

Personally I can honestly state that it was due to Chuck's excellent articles that the collector bug got me a few years ago, when I was still happy with my run-of-the mill Moonwatch only.
Again, it was through his works I got to know these wonderful forums of Zowie and OtD, and learnt so much more and better about watches. I am sure many of us owe him a lot, and his legacy will not be lost if we try to keep up his style and kindness at least a little bit, though it will be impossible to get near (I wouldn't even dare say 'match') his patience and dedication.

If any of you (Bill, Steve, any one who had the luck to know him better) are aware of any fund-raising or subscription pls. let us know, personally I'll be more than happy to send a few quids in Chuck's memory.
If no-one knows anything about such an idea, why don't we as a group choose one 'just cause' and donate a small sum to Chuck's memory?
