: Most watch companies if they use a coating to reduce glare apply it
: to the inside of the crystal. A crystal is very hard and nearly
: scratch proof. For some stupid reason Omega decided to apply
: this coating to the outside as well as the inside of the crystal
: on the PO. If you brush the crystal against an object that would
: have no effect on a non coated crystal it will cause tiny or in
: some cases large scratch marks in the coating. As far as I know
: the PO is the only Omega watch to use the coating on the
: outside.
for me a double-sided AR coating is welcomed because it makes the inner dial stand out without reflective distraction. I have a tag heuer 'link' watch with double AR and it looks very nice. of course the coating may be scratched if the watch is subjected to rough handling. that's why i never let my left hand (where my watch is on) to be held by women. women adorns jeweleries (precious stones, crystals, diamonds) which will surely scratch any part of your watch.
if u want a watch for rough handling use, then consider a seiko '5' because it's cheap and won't cause any heartache when it get scratched.
