In Response To: OMEGA SERIAL NUMBERS. ()

: Hi.First post so hello to all.I have a chance of buying a 2002
: seamaster pro 2231.50(titanium chronometer)I have been sent
: pictures of the watch and confirmed with omega that the serial
: no matches this model but i have noticed on the warranty card
: that the serial number begins 80****** purchased 24th dec
: 2002.Other omegas on ebay around the same age seem to have a
: number starting 60****** or close.Obviously i need to see the
: number etched under the lug but do the numbers seem right for
: this age of watch.Of course i am presuming that the numbers run
: in order as the years go by but maybe i am wrong.Would be
: grateful for any information.Regards to all.

If you have confirmed with Omega that the serial number matches this model, what is your question?

Omega once used serial numbers more or less in order. However, determining the date of production was always an approximation.

Since 1995, Omega has used numerous sequences of serial numbers simultaneously, making determining the date of production more difficult than simply looking at a table.

However, 80 million numbers have been used for chronometer movements and are somewhat consistent with a date of 2002.
