: I can't believe that you Omega owners feel so threatened by one
: Rolex poster!! I received 9 e-mails about this topic. What are
: you scared of? The truth? Tell you what, go try and sell one of
: your Omegas and see for yourself what the reaction is. People,
: especially dealers in second hand watches, are not interested in
: Omegas. But when you say "Rolex" all ears are pricked.
: Did anyone ever took your arm and said "I see you are
: wearing a Omega"? Never. But boy, oh boy, it's happened to
: me so many times already and I've only had this watch now for 2
: months. It's like a Rolls Royce and a Jaguar. People don't
: notice you if you drive a Jaguar....I know, I drive an S type.
: But, when you drive a Rolls, even if it's old, people notice it
: immediately. Second hand value of a Jag is bad, ask me, I'm
: driving an S type, but buying a Rolls is making an investment,
: same as buying a Rolex.
So Pieter, A Rolex is an investment? Now lets just say you strolled into your local Rolex AD, and lets just say you
plunked down around 7 grand for a Dweller. If you wear it, lets say for a month, can you sell it for more than you paid for it?
The short answer is NO. Therefore, it is not an investment. Few watches are. Now, why do you think Omega owners feel
threatened? Many of us own and enjoy both. And, if you'll do a little investigating, A new Omega, or a new Rolex will depreciate
at approximately the same percentage when sold, after having paid retail for either. OH, and we're still waiting for you
to address the value question from your last thread. If you're trying to make the point with the Jag vs Rolls analagy, gonna
have to come up with something a little stronger..................David
