Shown below are two of my favorite watches, from my collection. Guess what: I think that they are both fantastic watches, with many common traits. Some days I am in the mood for the Rolex; sometimes in the mood for the Citizen. Lately, it's been more of the Citizen; less of the Rolex.
One of the great things about true collectors / enthusiasts is that they can be excited about great watches from different eras, that employ different technologies, at different price points, and that are sold by different companies. This Rolex is not better than the Citizen (for example, if I need a watch to be highly-accurate or to wear if I want to see the lume). The Rolex may not even be more "collectible" (as this particular Citizen is very scarce).
The real enthusiasts don't go around bashing brands or proclaiming "my brand is better than yours"; rather, they can appreciate good things about many different watches.
