Re: New Aqua Terra models *PIC*

: I like the 'original' cal. 2500 models (I have a 2504.50).

: I'm unconvinced by the new cal. 8500 ones (pictured).

: The 'teck dials' are interesting (anything that looks like a Riva
: can't be bad). It's the detailing that seems less well resolved
: than the older ones. The new Omega badge is beautifully executed
: (with recesseded joining bars between the letters) and the
: bracelet links without the holes look neat. it's just the rather
: 'bling' dial detailing that seems to be a bit OTT.

I totally agree.

After obsessively reading the pros and cons of various watches recently, and deciding that I liked the Seamaster Aqua Terra 2500s, I'd convinced myself that I should wait for an 8500 to be available, due to the 'built-for-co-axial' movement etc. Then when I saw the images I wasn't so sure- the understatement and simplicity are what I like about the 2500, and while the teak plank dial does look quite sharp, I have no desire to have little numbers around the edge to remind me that when the big hand points down it means 30. I also realised that I was worrying about whether my mechanical watch was used the latest technology or not, the absurdity of which made me just go with my gut and get the one I like. I'm very happy with it:

I chose to buy a 2503.50 last week.
