Most watch makers use IIII rather than IV.....
In Response To: Roman numerals... ()

this has been discussed by others before. I can't remember all of the hypotheses that were tossed around - but I do recall someone saying that the watchmaker is attempting to preserve balance by using the IIII rather than IV. Aparently, when looking at a watch dial (or bezel w/ re: Connie) the eye naturally drifts across the dial to the left to the next logical focal point: the eight o'clock marker (VIII).

VIII IIII

VIII IV

Another hypothesis is that the IIII is in memory of a ruler or King ______ the 4th. Don't know much more about that one.

The Constellation is a beautiful watch. It looks particularly good on the slender wrist of a pretty woman.

Once you (or she) start looking you'll realized that most watches use the IIII designation.

Interesting question.
