If the watch has had servicing within the past 2 or 3 years.....you might be able to get off cheap on this one. Sounds like a coil of the hairspring has looped over on the regulator. This causes the hairspring to translate a much faster vibration level to the gears.....hense the excessive gaining. Usually a sharp jolt is the culprit, and though not a watchmaker myself i have fixed this problem myself over the 31 years in the jewelry business on my own watches or those of friends.

If the watch hasn't been serviced in a much longer time than that......better to have the watchmake do a complete overhaul and correct the overloop also at that time.
