Re: Breitling vs. Omega
In Response To: Breitling vs. Omega ()

If by prestige you mean a widely accepted perception of superiority by those whose knowledge of watches has mostly been obtained through advertising, than Breitling would win hands down.

Breitling makes some very fine watches, so does Omega, Rolex, Patek, UN, IWC and 50 other brands. Which one is prestigious to you would in part depend upon your social group and your personal requirements.

While most folks out there think of Rolex as the epitome of the watch making art and very pretigious, some are underwhelmed by their products. Th truth is probably some where in between.

My earlier message was not meant to be mean spirited. In our society what is prestigious is more often tied to ego satisfaction than true quality.

I'm guessing that when you posed the question you already had developed a perception one way or the other and wanted confirmation.

: Which brand has the most prestige?
