Hi Claud-Etienne.........another option, since you mentioned you have trouble pulling the trigger on a $2,500 purchase on an item you absolutely don't need.......is to get a nice "used" one. I owned ths model for about 6 months, and bought it from a local want-ads paper for only $800.00! It was VERY close to mint, about 4 years old, and ran great. I've gravitated to 18k Connies, and sold it to my co-worker for the same $800, and he later listed it on ebay where it sold for $850.00
I've since seen several nice condition sell on ebay in the same range.....some a little more. But WAY lower than any discounted "new" watch.....and may just entice you to pull the trigger on a watch you can enjoy......and later get all your money out of if you decide to move on later. Just one of the NICE things about buying "used"!

: Dear Derek,
: Thanks for all the info on your site; it is
: incredibly informative and thorough.
: I am looking into the purchase of the standard
: "Bond" 2531.80 SMP, although I
: have trouble pulling the trigger on a
: CDN$2,500 purchase of a thing I absolutely
: don't need...
: While shopping for the watch, it appears I can
: get pretty decent discounts from reputable
: dealers on the "regular" Bond
: model. However, I also see this 40th
: anniversary "Limited Edition" with
: the 007 markings, special booklets etc. It
: sells for CDN$1,000 more.
: I have read everything your site says about
: value, resale value etc. and I think I
: understand the fundamentals of your
: reasoning.
: In this particular context, do you think there
: is anything special in this watch which
: would offset the initial price increase so
: as to make it more a more worthwile purchase
: than the "standard" one?
: Thanks for any advice,
: Claude-Étienne Borduas
