Re: "Winding" my Seamaster....

Just curious,

I recently found that when I take my watch off my arm and wind it while pressed up against my ear, I can hear the winding. After several turns, I hear a very subtle ratchet sound which I thought meant the watch was fully wound. To test this, I tried and repeated winding the watch after letting it rest on my table for 24 hours versus wearing it all day and giving it a winding. The results were that the ratchet sound engaged much later on my watch when it had been setting for 24 hours than when it had been worn all day. I also tried this on a freind's smp and you could hear the ratchet sound engage after several turns. Based on this, I was winding the watch until the first ratchet click and stopping. Is this actually another sound? If so, what is it?

Thanks.
