This is a follow up on the posting last week on Do it Yourself instructions on how to adjust the Seamaster.
I adjusted it to WWV after putting in on a timing machine to further fine tune the balance mechanism. The machine counts were between 14399.70 and 14400.3 beats for the most part, crystal flat down on the machine.
The results are excellent. Each night the watch loses time to about 1 second slow in the morning. By the time I take it off and place it on my dresser in the evening it is 1 second fast. The combination of wearing and not wearing is constant enough to cause the watch to oscillate around perfect time each day. The piece is more sensitive to inactivity than activity with the present adjustment. Originally, the gain during the day was 5-7 seconds. Obviously, the slowing at night is more constant than I had thought. The activity during the day is then primarily adjusted by the balance mechanism. Very interesting.
This is far better than the 7 second daily gain the watch was delivered with. Good luck.
