FS: Rare Seiko 8M37-6000 Yacht Timer from June 1989

I am offering for sale a colourful and multifunctional neo-vintage Seiko 8M37-6000 Yacht Timer built for regatta timing in a stainless steel case. According to the serial number, the watch appears to be from June 1989 and is very hard to find overall.

The radially brushed case measures 35mm in diameter (without crown and pushers) and 42mm lug-to-lug. Thanks to the quartz movement, its height is a slim 9mm, the lugs measure 18mm. The original mineral crystal is slightly recessed in relation to the compass bezel.

Various functions can be selected via the crown:
► Preset countdown timers for 5, 10 or 15 minutes
► Individually adjustable timer for 1 up to 30 minutes (with repeat function)
► Hand alignment (e.g. after changing the battery) and of course
► Time display with the two main hands indicating the current hours and minutes

Visually, this watch is in good used condition. The case only has one significant dent on the lower left lug and the bezel shows a few “battle scars”. The mineral glass has a few fine scratches that do not impair readability. Most importantly, the dial is perfectly preserved, as are the hands and the (admittedly sparsely used) luminous material. All the embossing on the case back is perfectly legible.

Technically, all functions (see photos) and the acoustic signal tones work as they should, the movement runs with quartz precision, unobtrusively and flawlessly. Turning the bezel requires a great deal of effort, which could probably be remedied by cleaning.
The watch is supplied on a Maruman steel Jubilee-style bracelet with a safety folding clasp and diver's extension. Fans of Japanese watches will appreciate the high quality of these bracelets. Moreover, the Seiko also looks great on a Nato or Perlon strap, especially in summer (see photos, I will be happy to enclose the Perlon strap shown, if required).

Dimensions:
► Diameter: approx. 35mm without crown and pushers
► Lug-to-lug: approx. 42mm
► Height: approx. 9mm
► Lug width: 18mm

Price:
For this very rare Seiko Yacht / Regatta timer in ready-to-sail-away-condition I am asking EUR 420,- plus international insured shipping according to destination.

And now for the pictures:

The watch is located in Austria (EU) and so am I. I do have plenty of international references from various watch enthusiasts (also known here), so please feel free to ask for them.

Just for the records: I am a private collector and, therefore, the watch comes without any personal guarantee given by me. Nevertheless, I am offering to give a full refund less fully insured shipping expenses in case the piece sold would not be as described by me (within an inspection period of three days and to buyers from within the EU only due to the complex customs procedure in case of an overseas deal).

Thanks for reading and thanks to the Chronotrader platform and its host!

Kind regards,
F.Antl
