Rules: Postings must be an ad announcing an intent to sell, buy or trade. Full item description and photo(s) must be posted within the message here, not as links to other websites. Links to online auctions and other sites: Links to online auctions, dealer sites or other listings of items are permitted, but you should be careful to ensure that such listings will comply with our other ChronoTrader Policies. In addition, we request that sellers linking to online auctions or listings offer some benefit or accomodation to ChronoTrader readers (for example, some discount or an undertaking to end an auction early, to keep a watch "in the family"). Photos must be of the actual item for sale in its present condition. No counterfeit or replica products. No post for the same item may be repeated within 7 days, except to lower the asking price. Commercial dealers are limited to three unique posts per day. [More...]
I am offering for sale this beautifully preserved vintage watch classic from traditional Swiss brand Rado (model name: Manhattan), featuring a rectangular design – which is once again very much in vogue today – with substantial block-shaped hour markers and a domed rectangular plexiglass crystal, as well as the original NSA/Novavit stainless steel bracelet. When it was launched in 1966 (60 years ago now), the watch was touted as the world’s only rectangular watch capable of withstanding a water pressure of 22 atmospheres (715 feet) – however, of course, this original feature can no longer be taken for granted in a vintage piece today without a proper expert inspection
Details:
► Rectangular stainless steel case with sharply defined edges, in excellent condition with no dents or nicks
► Silver-coloured dial with sunburst finish and applied large block indices with fully intact, clean luminous material and an anchor logo that still rotates today – a typical element of the brand’s automatic watch line –, no traces of any melted gaskets on the dial
► Original handset, also with fully intact, clean luminous material
► Push/pull crown with Rado logo
► Case back with a beautiful Rado emblem; serial number legible on the side of the case
► Distinctive domed acrylic crystal with nice bevels and undamaged edges, bearing the Rado anchor logo in the centre, freshly polished
► Swiss automatic movement with day and date display, starts and runs smoothly and keeps time with a (recorded) deviation of approx. 25 seconds per day (measured laid down, service history unknown); day and date functions also work flawlessly
► Legendary original stainless steel bracelet (NSA/Novavit), made particularly comfortable by its fine links, complete with matching end links and clasp bearing the brand logo; sufficient for a wrist circumference of at least 19cm; spring mechanism in the clasp fully functional with strong spring tension
Dimensions:
► Diameter: 34mm excluding the crown (please note: due to its rectangular shape, the Rado Manhattan appears significantly larger on the wrist and wears more like a 38mm watch)
► Lug-to-lug: approx. 41mm
► Height: approx. 1 mm at the highest point (due to the domed crystal)
► Lug width: 20mm
Price:
I am asking EUR 350,- plus international insured shipping according to destination.
Pictures:
(The anthracite sibling model is not included in this offer, but is for sale in a separate sales ad.)
The watch is located in Austria (EU) and so am I. I do have plenty of international references from various watch enthusiasts (also known here), so please feel free to ask for them.
Just for the records: I am a private collector and, therefore, the watch comes without any personal guarantee given by me. Nevertheless, I am offering to give a full refund less fully insured shipping expenses in case the piece sold would not be as described by me (within an inspection period of three days and to buyers from within the EU only due to the complex customs procedure in case of an overseas deal).
Thanks for reading and thanks to the Chronotrader platform and its host!
Kind regards,
F.Antl
