Re: WTB: Orange dial Heuer Professional Diver,980.005 or.007

Thanks Marius. The one I have is one actually one I have had for 15 or so years. The hands are blue with the same mercedes style logo on the hour pointer hand. Missing the dial though. Your watch looks great! Definitely want to get this back to working order. Not in the same condition as your watch right now. Needs some work as as I mentioned since the band is gone. Is the band in your picture the original style? When were these watches made?

I appreciate your help with this,
Ron

: Hi Ron,I`m sure there are others who are better qualified to come
: up with an answer, but until Jarl gets here I`ll have a go at it
: : D

: The problem regarding the orange dial divers is that they are very
: rarely seen up for sale,so trying to figure out a sensible and
: realistic estimated value is nearly impossible.
: Over the last four years I`ve seen four of them up for sale, two of
: those where .005 autos and two .007 quartz.(including mine).
: I`m guessing yours is the one bought off ebayseller
: "thebalticman"?

: The price level seem to be a bit higher than the regular
: 844s,around 600 USDs.I`m not suggesting this is what theyr`re
: worth, but this is what they sold for as far as I can recall.
: It`s basically a question of suppply and demand right?I wanted one
: desperately, and shelled out the 650 $ buyitnow on ebay.
: Before that I won another .007 in an ebay auction listing for 300
: $.Long story short,I got royally screwed over by the seller who
: refunded my payment after ended auction, and then sold it in an
: outside deal..

: The autos sold for 400 and 500 $ respectively,but that`s at least
: four years ago.

: In my opinion a 100$ + repair/service is well worth the money,for
: one thing the right buyer will be prepared to pay a premium for
: this should you choose to sell.(I`d never sell mine).Secondly
: it`s a really cool piece of Heuer history that would deserve to
: be all that it could be.

: I would also consider getting an original set of hands,as the blue
: ones you describe are most likely incorrect replacement
: hands.Though I`m not at all certain, perhaps somone else can shed
: some light on this?

: I`d love to see a picture of your .007,here`s mine;
:
:

: I hope this has been of some help to you,and best of luck with
: getting the old girl back in shape!

: Cheers
: Marius
