Correct it is much much rarer than the AMI.

Many thanks for your input, I've been enjoying Easter (possibly too much!) to post an answer before. You are of course correct this is not military issued, it is the watch that used to be on the collection page of the Heuerboy website, and as far as I know (and after talking to the prior owners) is one of only 2. I am told it was thought to be a pre production prototype for the AMI, it pre dates the AMI and so of course not military worn or sold, but in it's defence is much rarer.

Hope that offers some clarity, although the watch is no longer for sale.
