WTT: Vintage Omega ref. 2521 18k Pink Gold JUMBO Seamaster COSC

Looking to trade this very rare 1950s oversize solid pink gold dress Omega Seamaster Chronometer for a vintage Heuer "Derek Bell" or automatic GMT Autavia; or other interesting vintage Zenith, Breitling, Omega etc chronographs/divers/tool watches. Straight sale value is $5150 USD OBRO.

Up for trade is this exceedingly rare early 1950s Omega Seamaster Chronometer in Jumbo 36mm solid 18k Pink Gold case with beautiful all-original waffle dial. Seamaster Chronometers from the 50s are rare enough but finding one in the big case and in pink gold is pretty much Grail time. This great Omega features the Chronometer-grade bumper automatic caliber 354 and dating by the serial number this movement comes from the very first year of 354 production (ca. 1952). The large, long lugged 18k pink gold case has a heavy screw down back and the factory printed non-luminous "waffle" or "honeycomb" guilloché dial displays matching faceted pink gold dial furniture and matching hands. It has acquired a lovely linen patina with only minor signs of aging and is absolutely stunning on the wrist. This reference 2521 is one of the more scarce models in Omega history and is in overall Excellent+ original vintage condition and running strong.

The asking price/trade value for this Grail-level vintage Omega is $5150 USD OBRO. This price includes fully insured FedEx shipping worldwide. Bank Wire preferred on this deal. Other payment options upon application. Watch will ship upon full clearance of the funds, as well as any necessary bank vetting. Payment must be made in US DOLLARS.

CASE & BACK: Classic oversized Seamaster screw back case in solid 18k pink gold measures 36mm wide (not including crown) by 45mm. This case shows minor wear but not too much polish, with fairly sharp lug edges. There are some minor scuffs & scratches but the case and bezel are easily in Excellent+ vintage condition. The heavy notched screw in caseback is dedication-free and in likewise Excellent+ and probably unpolished condition with the original spiral machining visible and only minor marks. It screws down tightly and the inner back shows no corrosion and all Omega nomenclature of the period is present inside, including the correct 2521 SC reference and serial number for gold case. (I added a gasket after opening the watch for pictures--I imagine the original might have been lead).

DIAL & HANDS: Beautiful Excellent+ and all-original off-white "waffle" pattern guilloché dial with hand-riveted pink gold faceted and angled bar markers and pink Omega symbol. All original dial text is present and legible with only minor wear and there are only some very light marks to the surface of the honeycomb and some slight discoloration. Pink gold Alpha hour and minute hands are Excellent with some signs of age, as is the pink sweep seconds hand. Simply put, this is a stunning dial with just enough patina for the true vintage lover!

CROWN: Perhaps not original to the watch is the knurled-type crown, which seems later to me and maybe not quite rose colored enough. I have taken the liberty of ordering what I think is the correct "notched" crown in pink from Ofrei.com and that will be include with sale of the watch. That said, the Omega-signed crown winds and pulls out to the time-setting position, as it should.

CRYSTAL: Domed acrylic crystal without Omega symbol is probably a newer generic replacement. It sits firmly in the case and is clear and almost completely scratch-free, Near Mint condition.

MOVEMENT: Omega's in-house bumper 17-jewel automatic winding 354 caliber looking very clean and bright pink. The 13.5 million movement SN indicates circa 1952 production, the first year of this caliber's existence. This movement is correctly marked for the Chronometer-rated 5 positional and temperature adjustments, a very rare machine to find in a Seamaster of this era. While I do not know the service history of this great movement it is keeping excellent time with strong power reserve and I guarantee that to be the case at the time of shipment.

BAND: This great Omega comes on an elegant used brown Italian alligator strap in Excellent broken in condition and with Omega-signed gold tone buckle. This large dress watch takes straps with 18mm ends.

I make NO guarantees for the water resistance of this watch in any way, shape or form.

This great Vintage Omega is offered with a 3-day inspection period from the date of receipt and may be returned for a full refund less any shipping costs incurred by the buyer. This refund is unconditional and once I get the watch back in exactly the same condition as it was sent to you, your money will be refunded. Of course, once the 3 days are over the sale will be considered FINAL.

Thanks for looking,
T.
