FS: 1966-1967 Universal Geneve Tri-Compax Panda Dial--Excellent

Product Description

Age: Manufactured between 1966 and 1967 per serial number dating tables direct from Universal Geneve
Maker: Universal Geneve

Case: Solid stainless steel waterproof screw down caseback. Beautiful twisted lugs design was contemporaneous with the well known Omega Speedmaster. Signed inside with the Universal Geneve logo. Case back contains the serial number and reference number.
Cleaned, likely unpolished case; the original lines and angles all intact.
Correct, signed crown
Crystal has recently been replaced. The original crystal developed a crack that could have caused damage to the dial. I still have the original crystal if you would like it included with the watch, just let us know.
Dial: Clean, correct dial for this reference, with factory paint–never re-painted. Nicely aged luminous hour markers are original. Signed Swiss T.
Correct, later Tri-Compax hands are all original.

Movement: Universal Geneve calibre 281. These complicated movements were among the most technically advanced ‘mass market’ time pieces of their era and rivaled the very best from the likes of Movado, Vacheron, Jaeger LeCoultre, and Patek Philippe.
Manual wind, chronograph. 17 Jewels.
Frequency: 18,000 beats per hour.
Signed Universal Geneve.
Recently serviced by my master watchmaker. Excellent running condition, keeping good time.

Dimensions: 45mm x 36 mm without crown, 39mm with crown. 19 mm strap.

Condition: Truly remarkable overall condition, for a great later period Tri-Compax watch by Universal. These pieces are currently undervalued, but have been rapidly appreciating with recent coverage by Hodinkee and other vintage watch publications. There were only two watch brands that were worthy enough to be carried by the renowned Henri Stern Watch Agency in NYC: Patek and Universal. This heritage, combined with an in-house calibre and timeless styling makes this one of the most desirable vintage wrist watches today. Pieces like this represent the upper echelon of preservation and condition and are considered investment quality watches.

Strap: Pictured on a Horween Shell leather strap, which perfectly compliments the beautiful panda dial. Add a signed, period Universal buckle here.

Shipping & Payment: Due to the value, payment will only be accepted via Bank wire, Cashiers check or other direct payment methods. References are available. For domestic and international orders, will only ship ParcelPro/FedEx, signature on delivery.

Inspection: I adhere to the customary three day inspection period. That is, once you receive the watch, you have three days to check it out, try it on, impress your friends, etc. You can contact me at any time in those three days and return it--for any reason--in the same way that it was shipped to you. I'll inspect it on receipt and if everything's the same as when I sent it, you'll get an immediate refund minus any shipping costs and payment fees I incurred.

Price: $8750 plus actual shipping costs.
